Ella highlights
The classic first day in Ella. You are on the bridge before the morning train and back at your hotel by mid-afternoon, with the four things everyone comes here for done properly rather than rushed.

LKR 6,500 for the whole vehicle, however many of you there are. Pay the driver at the end of the day.

The day, stop by stop
Your driver meets you at the door. Bring a jacket, the hills are cold this early.
On the bridge for the 07:15 train, before the tour buses arrive. About an hour here.
A 40-minute walk up, gentle enough in trainers. Your driver waits at the tea shop below.
A working factory, not a showroom. You see the leaf go through and taste what comes out.
Rice and curry at a place locals use. Roughly LKR 900 a head, not in the tour price.
Twenty minutes at the falls, then home. Ask for the Demodara loop if you still have energy.

Bring with you
Trainers or walking shoes, water, a light jacket for the morning, and cash for lunch and the tea factory shop. Entrance to Little Adam’s Peak is free; the tea factory charges about LKR 500.
